Karl Brockel died last tuesday. He was a brother of Adam Brockel of Mound City.
Born at Peterstahl, South Russia, was converted and baptized by Reverend Galling in 1895.
He joined the Adventist church in 1906.
Married Gertrude Bitterman in 1881. Came to America in 1881, settling in Campbell County, east of Mound City, then moved into Mound City in 1920. He was one of the first settlers in this part of the country.
During a vist to the Campbell County Courthouse he complained about not feeling well and had to lie down. Despite assistance from other people at the courthouse, he did not feel any better. He said "I am dying and going home," he died shortly after arriving at his home.
Cause of death was attrbuted to a broken blood vessel in his brain.
Survived by his wife, and their adopted daughter, Maria; four brothers and four ssiters.
Funeral services Friday, March 11, 1921, from the funeral home, Baptist Church and cemetery all at Herreid. Pastor H. G. Bens led the services, and Pastor R. Luchs from Linton, North Dakota, officiated.
