Funeral services for August March were held on Tuesday, April 30, at 1:30 p.m. at his farm home. Reverend S Manx conducted the services and addressed the large number of friends and neighbors who gathered to pay tribute to a Hilda old-timer. Interment was made in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church cemetery ten miles west of Hilda, with four sons and two sons-in-law as pallbearers.
August March was born November 09, 1881, at Friedenstahl, Bessarabia, Russia. He grew up and received his schooling there. In 1898, he came to the United States and settled in the Ashley, North Dakota, district. Here on June 21, 1903, he entered into the Holy estate of Matrimony with Marguerite Schaeffer. This marriage was blessed with 16 children, seven of whom predeceased their father.
In 1913, he and his family came to Canada and settled in the Irvine district for one year, later moving to a homestead near Hilda where he farmed until his death.
He passed away on Sunday April 28 in his sleep at home at the age of 64.
He is mourned by his beloved wife; five sons, four daughter and 13 grandchildren.
