      Ashley, ND-Funeral service for Edward Golz, 96, of Ashley will be 1:30 pm, Friday, April 18, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. The Rev. Jeff Giles will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Ashley. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. He died April 12, 2008 at the Ashley Medical Center.
      Edward Golz, son of Gottfried and Karolina (Dewald) Golz was born October 6, 1911 on the family farm six miles north of Venturia in McIntosh County, ND. He attended a rural elementary school nearby for two to three years, before becoming actively involved in grain and livestock farming. He was united in marriage to Katherine Sayler from rural Wishek, ND on October 28, 1934 in McIntosh County, ND. In 1935, they began their own farming operation on a rented farm a mile from his family home. In 1941, they bought a farm in the same area where they continued to raise small grains and livestock until 1970 when they moved to Ashley. He continued to operate his grain farm until 1981. In 1984, he had a farm machinery auction. His wife Katie died January 10, 2008.
      He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he also served on the church board as well as at Venturia Lutheran for many years in various positions. He was a member of the Albrights Valley Rural school board for fifteen years, worked as a field representative for the Agriculture Stabilization & Conservation Service office for ten years, and was a Lion's Club member. He was also a member of both the Ashley and Wishek Hospital Association.
      Survivors include two sons, Harvey (Betty) Golz of Troy, Michigan and Darwin (Betty) Golz of Ashley, four daughters, Betty (Richard) Ringuette of New Salem, ND, Jean Bauer of Burnsville, MN, Wanda (Steve) Delzer of Ashley and Rhonda Golz of Fargo, ND, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. His parents, wife, four brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Honorary Casketbearers will be his great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Casketbearers will be his grandchildren. The organist will be Steve Glaesmann and the Ashley Men's Quartet will provide special music. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
