Henry H. Pittman, age 90 formerly of Providence Place of Chambersburg, PA. and Greencastle, PA., died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in Chambersburg, PA. Surviving family are One Son, George H. Pittman. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, PA. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at zimmermanfh.com.
HENRY H. PITTMAN, 90, a resident of ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of Providence Place, Chambersburg, and 13775 Molly Pitcher Highway, Greencastle, died at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, in the nursing home.
Born May 18, 1918, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late George H. and Cora E. (Hawbaker) Pittman.
He and his wife, Isabel (Crunkleton) Pittman, were married Aug. 7, 1939, in Hagerstown. Mrs. Pittman died Jan. 9, 2001.
Mr. Pittman was a truck driver for the former Bock Oil, Greencastle, and along with his wife was the owner of Pittman's Western Wear, Greencastle.
He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Greencastle.
Mr. Pittman was a charter member of Silver Star Saddle Club, Greencastle.
He enjoyed working with leather and was a great storyteller.
He is survived by one son, George H. Pittman of Greencastle; three grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; three step-great-granddaughters; three step-great-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Lou Poe, and two sisters, Mildred (Pittman) Schockey and Genevieve J. (Pittman) Beeler.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Chaplain Ronald Milley officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225 or Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice, 1200 Walnut Bottom Road, Suite 302, Carlisle, Pa. 17013.
