A native of Lodi he has lived here all his life. Schmiedt who was en route to his home from the Carmichael area where he was engaged in construction work, was killed when his sports car went out of control on a rough area on Grantline rd., two miles east of Highway 99. The California Highway Patrol said that Schniedt apparently was driving within the speed limit when the accident occurred. He is survived by his wife. Lucile, two sons, James and David of Acampo, and was the brother of Gust Schmiedt, Clifford Schmiedt, Melvin Schmiedt, George Schmiedt and Mrs. Pauline Gigax all of Lodi, ad Mrs. Virginis Mauch of Sacramento. His mother is Mrs. John J. Schmiedt of Lodi. Mr. Schmiedt was born ad raised on a ranch in the Victor area. He attended Victor Grammar School and graduated from Lodi Union High School, where he was a member of the football team. After finishing his schooling, he farmed with his father. In 1936, he married Lucile Graffigna. He was employed with Graffigna Auto Parts for six years and was engaged in farming for several years. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Asta Construction Company. Interment in Lodi Cemetery - Lodi News-Sentinel Sept 3, 1960
