    Danford "Dan" Richardson, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012. He was born March 22, 1930 in Boise, ID, moving to Moses Lake, WA, then to Seattle, where he lived for 40 years. He made his way to Mount Vernon, where he had resided for the past 18 years.
    Dan was a paperboy, served in the Korean War (earning a Purple Heart), a college student in Forestry, a USPS Supervisor, a donut maker, a Washington State Employee, and above all, a loving husband and father.
    His favorite interests included fishing, especially with his father on the Boise River, painting mountain and farm scenes, reading, bowling, crossword puzzles, watching the Seattle Mariners (sometimes called the "Manures"), and telling corny jokes.
    He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church where he felt welcomed and needed.
    Dan succumbed to Parkinson's Disease and resided for 3 years at the Life Care Center of Sedro-Woolley.
    Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Viola; his two daughters, Susan Richarson and Cheryl (Mark) Myers; granddaughter Rachel; and many nieces and nephews.
    There are several people to thank who made a tremendous difference in his life. The staff at Life Care Center of Sedro-Woolley, Steve and Lela Coleman, and the many friends he made at the First Christian Church.
    A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 3pm, at the First Christian Church, 900 Skagit Street, Mount Vernon, with Pastor Steve Coleman officiating.
    Memorials may be made to First Christian Church and the Parkinson's Foundation.
