Bertha Braunberger, 86, McClusky, died Feb. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church, McClusky. Burial will be in McClusky City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.
Bertha was born March 30, 1911, in Parshall to Ben and Minnie (Triebwasser) Reiswig. Her family then moved to a farm in the Lincoln Valley area north of Denhoff. Bertha grew up there and attended rural school.
She married Rudolph Braunberger on Jan. 15, 1930, in Lincoln Valley. They continued to farm and both drove school bus for many years. Bertha was also a cook in the McClusky Public School system.
Rudolph died on April 18, 1969. She continued to live in McClusky during her retirement.
Bertha is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Edith Baumann, Phoenix, Ariz., Delila and Ronald Reile, McClusky, and Judy Berg, Bismarck; four sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Rosemary, Mesa, Richard and Arlene, Goodrich, Roman and Sharon, Foley, Minn., and Ronald and Percilla, Richmond, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deloris Garvey, Mesa, Ariz., and Aldtrude Hoffer, Bismarck; and four brothers, Sam Reiswig, McClusky, Lawrence and Norris Reiswig, both of Bismarck, and ElRoy, Minot.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Clarence and Melvin; and one sister, Esther Faul.

George C. Reiswig, Sr. was born on January 25, 1868 in Neusatz Parish, Russia. He was the son of Conrad Johann and Katherina Maria (Hoff) Reiswig. He died in Lodi, California on January 25, 1952.
George immigrated to the United States with his parents, grand parents, and his brothers and sisters. They arrived in the Port of New York on the ship Suevia on May 24, 1876. From New York they traveled to Wittenberg Township, Hutchinson County, South Dakota where his parents homesteaded on the banks of the James River.
George married Elizabeth Bentz in about 1885 in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. She was the daughter of George Michael Bentz and Dorthea Hoffmann and had been born in Russia in about 1868. She had immigrated to the United States in about 1885 with her father George, her stepmother, Maria Ann (Niess) Wall Bentz, a full sister Margarette, and 3 half sisters (Margaretha, Katharina, and Anna Bentz), and 2 half brothers (Fred & Jacob Bentz).
On May 27, 1886 a son, named Joseph, was born. Elizabeth either died in childbirth or died within a few weeks of Joseph's birth.
In about 1888 George married Elizabeth Wall, daughter of August Wilhelm Wall, and Maria Anna (Niess) Wall, who was born in Hoffnungstal, Cherson, South Russia on February 18, 1870. They had ten children. The first five were born in Hutchinson County South Dakota: Ben, George Jr., Sarah, August, and Jacob. The last five were born in Lincoln Township, Sheridan County, North Dakota: Emanuel, Isaac, Lillie, Reinhold, and Frieda.
In 1898 George, his brother-in-law Fred Bentz, and his brother Conrad C. Reiswig had traveled to Lincoln Township, Hutchinson County, North Dakota to scout out a new area for the Reiswig's to settle. Most of the Reiswig's in South Dakota joined them in Lincoln Township, North Dakota by 1900.
After his children were raised, George and Elizabeth moved from North Dakota to Lodi, California. Elizabeth (Wall) Reiswig died in Lodi on April 23, 1946.
After Elizabeth's death, George married Katherine Ralkey.

George C. Reiswig, of 308 Eden St. died yesterday at a local hospital. He was 84.
A Lodi resident for the past 32 years. Mr. Reiswig came here following his retirement from extensive farming operations in Lincoln Valley, North Dakota, in 1920.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church for 68 years.
Mr. Reiswig was the husband of Katharina Reiswig of Lodi and the father of Joe and Emanuel Reiswig. Mrs. Sadie Meyer, Mrs. Lillie Yankee and the late Mrs. Frieda Huft, all of Lodi; Issac Reiswig of Stockton, Jake Reiswig of Modesto and Ben, George, August and Reinhold Reiswig, all of North Dakota.
He was the brother of David Reiswig, Mrs. Carl Baumbach and Mrs. Mary Bentz of Lodi, Mrs. Charlotte Tebelius of North Dakota; and the brother-in-low of Mrs. Pauline Becker of Lodi.
Mr. Reiswig was the cousin of Mrs. Conrad Tebelius, John Reiswig, Mrs. Ida Reimche, Adam Werner, Mrs. John Aichele, Mrs. Rose Steinnert, and Sam Reiswig, all of Lodi; and Abraham Werner of Arcata.
He was the stepfather of Mrs. Matilda Meidinger, Mrs. Carrie Rodacker, Mrs. Helen Fey, Adolph, Herbert, and Rudolph Heintz of Lodi; Elmer Heintz of Minnesota, Sam Heintz of Oregon, and Mrs. Selma Anderson of Minnesota.

Elizabeth (Wall) Reiswig was the daughter of August Wilhelm and Maria Anna (Niess) Wall. She was born in Hoffnungstal, Cherson, Russia on February 18, 1870.
She immigrated to the United States in about 1885 with her mother Maria Anna (Niess) Wall Bentz, her step-father Michael Bentz, her brother August W. Wall, step sisters Elizabeth and Margarette Bentz, her half sisters Margaretha, Katharina, and Anna Bentz, and her half brothers Fred and Jacob Bentz.
She married George Reiswig in about 1888 in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. George's first wife Elizabeth Bentz, who died in 1886, was Elizabeth Wall's step sister.
George and Elizabeth (Wall) Reiswig had ten children. The first five were born in Hutchinson County South Dakota: Ben, George Jr., Sarah, August, and Jacob. The last five were born in Lincoln Township, Sheridan County, North Dakota: Emanuel, Isaac, Lillie, Reinhold, and Frieda.

August 1843 in Kassel, Russland, als Anna Maria Niess geboren wurde; auf ihrer Sterbeurkunde von North Dakota steht der 24. August 1841; und Emil Benz, der Enkel von Maria, gab als Geburtsdatum den 15. Juli 1841 an. Aufzeichnungen über ihre in Russland geborenen Kinder führen ihren Vornamen als Maria auf. So auch die meisten Volkszählungsaufzeichnungen in den Vereinigten Staaten.
Maria war dreimal verheiratet. Ihr erster Ehemann war August Wilhelm Wall, geboren am 13. Oktober 1842 in Hoffnungstal, Cherson, Südrussland. Wir wissen nicht, wann und wo sie geheiratet haben. Am Sonntag fanden Trauergottesdienste für Frau Anna M. Bentz im Alter von 91 Jahren statt, die am 21. Juli im Haus ihrer Tochter, Frau Henry Kelm von McClusky, an einem Schlaganfall starb. Der Tod erfolgte etwa eine Woche nach dem Schlaganfall.
Frau Bentz wurde am 24. August 1841 in Russland geboren. Die letzten Riten wurden von Elder Seibel von der Bowdon-Kirche der Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten durchgeführt. Die Internierung fand auf dem Friedhof im Lincoln Valley statt.
Der Verstorbene wird von den Töchtern Mrs. Henry Kelm aus McClusky, Mrs. George Reiswig aus Lincoln Valley und Mrs. Rose Wahl aus dem Staat Washington überlebt; und Söhne Jacob und Fred Bentz von Harvey.
Es überleben auch 62 Enkel; 24 Urenkel und vier Ururenkel."
Am 14. Juli 2006 legten Edna (Bentz) Mantz, Marias Enkelin, Ednas Söhne Fred & Tom und andere Nachkommen und Verwandte einen Grabstein für Maria auf dem Lincoln Valley SDA Cemetery.
